Dear BLACK Creative,
Hey everyone my name is Quaneesha Sullivan also known as Dancing Roxy on social media platforms. I am a BLACK Creative! I am a professional dancer, YouTuber, artist and so much more. But above all I am a child of God!
Let us chat for a while ! Many of us as Black creatives are feeling a lot of different emotions and feel we can’t/don’t want to express ourselves .
Am I right or am I wrong ?
But this is not the time for us to be Silent! We need to create as much as possible to show everyone we are standing talk through these hard times. Now I know some of us may feel stuck because of everything this world is throwing our way such as
-Global pandemics!
And
-Protest/The Revolution!
These things may have caused us to even feel uncertain about our futures. But this is not the time to give up on our dreams! This is the time to overcome our fears and do what we know how to do best. That is Write it out, Dance it out, Sing it out, stomp it out and Act it out. What ever it is you must do to get it out DO IT!
Being a BLACK creative in this pandemic/revolution we need to be mindful that the generations before and after us are affected emotionally as well . We need to show them that if we can keep creating during this time, then so can they. This will not only motivate them but also motivate us to start creating again.
Now I know you’re probably thinking where do I start Quaneesha? How do I even create something during these times people won’t even watch or look at what I have to say! Well I’m going to stop you right there and give you some ideas on how to create again!
First things first!
-Get off of your phone after reading this of course and go take a walk! While you’re on that walk listen to the sounds around you. Look at the trees, the water, the buildings and sky’s that surround you. Then I need you to remind yourself that this is all Gods beautiful creations.
Second!
After you have finished your walk. Go inside and find a quiet space. If you have any old note books or drawings or even videos/pictures of your creations I want you to look at those and see how talented you are!
Lastly!
After you are done looking at your past creations write anything that you have on your mind down. Don’t give yourself anytime limit or hide any emotions from yourself. Once you are done writing read it to yourself. Then I want you to create anything you need to create! Not for instagram or Facebook or twitter but what you want to create for you! Don’t hold back on anything! Go for what you have in your head. If it’s a big project write it down and plan it out. If it is small still write it down then begin. You have the power to create anything because you have a voice and it matters. Don’t hold back Black Creative give it your all!
Alright now it was nice talking to you all! Now go CREATE BLACK CREATIVES!
